Fair Trade is a trading partnership, based on dialogue, transparency and respect, that seeks greater equity in international trade. It contributes to sustainable development by offering better trading conditions to, and securing the rights of, marginalized producers and workers – especially in the Himalayas. As a Fair Trade organization we have a clear commitment to Fair Trade as the principal core of our mission. We are engaged actively in supporting producers, awareness raising and in campaigning for changes in the rules and practice of conventional international trade related to the Pashmina Eco-System. Pashmina Fair Trade is more than just trading, it proves that greater justice in world trade is possible. It highlights the need for change in the rules and practice of conventional trade and shows how a successful business can also put people first.

The unique character of Pashmina is not only attributed to its raw material but the entire manufacturing process that includes manual cleaning of fibres, hand spinning and weaving on a traditional handloom. Pashmina goats are a special breed of goat indigenous to high altitudes of the Himalayas in northern India. To survive the freezing environment at 14,000 feet altitude, it grows a unique, incredibly soft pashm (inner coat) six times finer than human hair. Pashmina Goat Program offers a testing service to Retailers, Wholesalers and also anyone who owns the Pashmina in their family. This is the only testing service you would need if you are looking at investing in an expensive Pashmina Shawl or Stole.
